Yellow/Green/Blue String Couch Quilt


I machine pieced this quilt on my Bernina 240 (over 1,360 2" strips!).
I quilted this quilt on my Janome QMP-18 long arm.

Finished size: 62" x 62"

Blue for the warm ocean waters,
green for the lush vegetation,
and yellow for the brilliant summer sunshine.


Coordinating backing fabric is the 
vibrant "Artisan Spirit Falling Leaves - Spring Rain" by Northcott. It complements the colors of the pieced fans on the front perfectly.

After washing - all wrinkly and even prettier.

Front piecing: Several rows of 6.5" square blocks made using 2" strips joined together "by eye" (no pattern), following the impromptu "scrappy fan" method. Blocks are joined together in four different directions.
Inner Sashings: Yellow floral patterned batik.
Border: Coordinating half-blocks of same "scrappy fan" method.
Back: Yellow, green, blue leaves on a vivid green background.
Binding: Machine quilted with the vivid green patterned fabric matching backing.
QuiltingQuilted in "Repeat Squiggles" pattern, front with Green Apple thread, back with Pastel Yellow thread.
