Green & Blue Dinosaur Youth TV Quilt

I machine pieced this quilt on my Bernina 240.
I quilted this quilt on my Janome QMP-18 long arm.

Finished size: 46" x 61"

Front piecing: Quilt's center is 42 - 7" squares, and 9 of those squares are scrappy X-O blocks
A narrow inner border of green & yellow wonky striped fabric is surrounded by piano keys on two ends, and 2.5" blocks on the other two sides. A 3" wide wonky-striped fabric is the final border.
(Note to self: using a border fabric design that is wiggly and not-straight on purpose, such as wonky-striped fabric for borders...can cause a quilt to not look square, even when it really is!)

The backing is a bright fabric of various shades of green geometric circles, bisected on the diagonal with a 10" wide strip of dinosaur fabric from the front of the quilt.

The quilting pattern is an edge-to-edge called "Double Swirl". It is a visually fun pattern that stitches out very easily.
Both the front and back of this quilt are stitched in chocolate brown So Fine 50 thread (#424).

The label is the recipient's name and date which embroidered onto a folded piece of fabric, (with my signature in fabric ink above) tucked into a corner of the scrappy binding.

After machine washing twice with dye trapping sheets (I use either Color Catchers or Color Grabbers), the quilt is scrunchy and soft. Here it is wrapped up with a ribbon and ready to be gifted to its new owner!

This Green & Blue Dinosaur Youth TV Quilt was made for a 9-year-old boy, and I made a quilt for his twin sister at the same time, too!

Using 1.5" and 2" wide strips to piece some scrappy X-O blocks.

Joining 1.5" x 7" strips together to create piano key borders at two ends, to lengthen the quilt.

My backing fabric was too narrow, so I pieced a diagonal back, including adding an insert of feature fabric from the front.

Edge-to-edge stitching of "Double Swirl" being quilted on my Janome QMP18 long arm.

Attaching the scrappy binding and corner label on my Bernina 240.
