🧚FINISHED QUILT:🧚

Front: Barb expertly pieced this dancing fairies quilt using sweet fabrics in pinks, blues and grays.

Back: The backing fabric is a blue blender I had in my stash.

Quilting- Pattern: The stitching pattern is "Ballerina" from OhSewKute.

Quilting- ThreadI used Blizzard (So Fine 50 #451) thread to stitch both the front and back of the quilt.

Label: I embroidered Barb's name and year directly onto the binding.

Quilting:
I loaded the quilt's backing fabric, then added the high-loft batting, and finally draped the quilt flimsy on the top, creating a 3-layered quilt sandwich.

The swirls and abstract silhouette of a dancing "Ballerina" stitched out wonderfully - my first purchase from OhSewKute, and I will buy from that shop again.

Beginning the first of 7 rows.

Finishing the 7th (and final) row.

Trimming:
Once quilting was completed, I squared the sides, trimming the outer frame border to 2" wide.

Binding:
Barb had several 2" wide strips left over from piecing the front. I joined enough of these strips together until I had about 240" in length to create a binding. Then I ironed them in half.

First I attached the binding strips to the back of the quilt using a scant 1/4" seam.

Then I wrapped the binding around and sewed it to the front of the quilt.

I create almost perfectly mitered corners by using two strong corsage pins to hold the folds in place as I sew each corner.

Label:
Using my Pfaff's alphabet feature, I embroidered Barb's name and the year directly onto the binding before I attached it to the quilt.

Washing:
I machine washed the finished quilt (cold water, no bleach) using dye trapping sheets to catch any dyes that may bleed (I usually use either Color Catchers or Color Grabbers).

Once washed, the quilt is scrumptiously wrinkly and so very soft.
