I machine pieced this quilt on my Bernina 240.
I quilted this quilt on my Janome QMP-18 long arm.

Front piecing:  The center of this quilt is 24 impromptu blocks that are made by combining scraps and small strips of fabric. The technique is sometimes called Mile a Minute Piecing or Improv Piecing.
The blocks are sashed and then have pink, green and purple cornerstones. Then six borders of various widths and block patterns surround the 24 central blocks.

BackThe backing is a pieced combination of three different fabrics:
1) same purple fabric as the front 6" border ("Lush Harvest" by Laura Foster Nicholson
2) remaining green backing fabric from the Fairy Panel Crib Quilt
3) leftover pink patterned backing fabric bBasicGrey for Moda from the Pink & Purple Butterflies Youth Quilt

The quilting pattern is dense, wonderfully fun pattern called "Candy".
It stitches out popsicles, peppermints, lollipops, ribbon candies (plus many more varieties of treats) all joined together with hearts and swirls.

Both the front and the back are quilted with "Purple Iris" (So Fine 50 #441) by Superior Threads

I machine washed this quilt with dye trapping sheets (I like to use either Color Catchers or Color Grabbers), to absorb the fabric dyes and to set the deep vivid colors. After washing, the quilt is wonderfully scrunchy, soft and wrinkled.

The backing and batting are loaded, and the top is floating on my Janome QMP18 long arm, ready to be stitched with edge-to-edge quilting in the fun "Candy" pattern.

Love how the "Purple Iris" thread contrasts just enough for the stitched candies to stand out, without overpowering the colors and patterns of the fabrics.

Last of nine rows total!

Attaching the binding strips with my Bernina 240 using the blind hem foot.

The dye trapping sheets removed a lot of purple dye, so there will be no color bleeding in future washings! (I use either Color Catchers or Color Grabbers).
